Through your website I am hoping to trace and obtain copies, where possible, of Viewbank Farm House, which was situated North of Braefoot – North East corner of Shanwell Cemetry – West end of Shanwell Road areas. It was a compulsory purchase circa 1970/71, then demolished to allow the Carnoustie High School to be built. I understand the house would have stood in the South West area of the school playing fields.
My husband’s Grandparents – Wm (Bill) McNicoll and Sheila (nee Thompson – of the Tattie Thompsons) worked the market garden there and stayed in the house, owned by Bills parents. Bill had a horse and cart, then later a tractor and would travel through the streets selling his produce. This would have been in the 1960′s. Bill and Sheila had two daughters, Nan and Sheila (Babs). Sheila was born in 1950.
Sheila Senior, her parents were David Thompson (Provost) and Millicent, who owned the wool shop. Bill’s parents were Betsy Anne, nee Gardiner (query spelling) and William, who owned Viewbank.
As I said I was looking for any photographs specifically of Viewbank, but any information and photographs would be appreciated. It is Sheila’s (my mother-in-law) 60th birthday this year and we would like to give her a photo of the house where she was born, as we do not have any in the family.
Bill’s sister Betty (Stewart) still lives in Carnoustie.
Thankyou in anticipation.

Don’t think it’s prudent to put people’s home addresses on such a public web site…. But I think the site is great!
